On November 3, 2023, we held our inaugural Eastern Region Fundraising event! At Fleury Bowling, fun and camaraderie filled the lanes as tenants, partners and staff enjoyed an afternoon of spirited bowling. The event was made even more exciting with snacks and treats provided by sponsor Metro and Fleury Bowling, a photobooth from Vivaprod, and incredible raffle prizes (our grand prize donor, Metrospec, as well as additional prizes from Laurier Optical, Linen Chest and Kids Help Phone).  The fun times kept rolling!

Beyond the lanes, this charitable event saw our Eastern community come together to raise an incredible $50,000+ for the Foundation and  Kids Help Phone's Counsellor in the Classroom initiative – ten times more than our initial goal of $5,000! We were honoured to be joined by Karine and Norm from Kids Help Phone, who shared their important work and mission with our participants – we know the funds raised are going to make an important difference to many kids.

Congratulations to all our trophy and raffle winners, and a sincere thank you to all participants and sponsors - especially the FCR employees that volunteered their time to make this event a reality. Together, we made a meaningful impact while having a great time, and we look forward to hosting again next year!

About Kids Help Phone

Kids Help Phone is Canada’s only 24/7 e-mental health service offering free, confidential support to young people in English and French. In fact, they’ve provided support over 11.6 million times to Canadian youth since January 2020 – a key indicator of the mental health landscape in Canada. Their purpose is to improve the lives and wellbeing of Canadian youth by providing a safe and trusted place for young people in any moment of crisis or need.

Their Counsellor in The Classroom initiative is an innovative and community-based program designed to help students in Grades 4 through 12 connect with Kids Help Phone and learn about Mental Health. The program's goal is to empower young people and build resilience.

“You really helped me and thanks to you I didn’t commit tonight and you made me feel like I wasn’t alone in this place.  You helped me feel heard and the words you spoke were some of the kindest ones I’ve heard in a while.”
